The executive and design team at Southern Trillium is dedicated to providing you with your unique garden experience while giving you industry leading quality and customer service. The name Southern Trillium reflects the founding members’ interest in native plants and woodland gardens. It also carries special meaning in that it represents the three founding members, supported by their faith in the Trinity, working to create beautiful gardens. The executive team at Southern Trillium, LLC is comprised of Charlie Jackson, Lyle Collins, and Scott Uthlaut.

Southern Trillium, LLC is fully licensed and insured and is a member of Metro Atlanta Landscape & Turf Association (MALTA) and Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA).The management team has formal horticulture and landscape design education (including Degrees in Environmental Horticulture and Certificate in Landscape Design), participates in annual continuing education, and holds Associate Membership in the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD). We hold the following licenses and certifications:, GGIA Certified Plant Professional, GGIA Certified Landscape Professional, Georgia Certified Soil and Water Conservation Commission License, Georgia Pesticide Applicator Licenses, Georgia Pesticide Contractor License, and Gwinnett County Business License.

The Executive and Design Team:

Charlie Jackson graduated from Gwinnett Technical College with an associate degree in Environmental Horticulture after a career as a manager with BellSouth. Charlie also holds a degree in Marketing from the University of South Florida. While at Gwinnett Technical College, Charlie was a nominee for the prestigious Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership. Charlie is certified as a Landscape Professional (GGIA), Plant Professional (GGIA), and licensed Georgia Pesticide Applicator (GA Dept. of Agriculture). Charlie is an Associate Member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.

Lyle Collins is a graduate of the University of Georgia, receiving his landscape design training from the Department of Horticulture. Lyle also serves as our primary equipment and operations manager. He is a Certified Georgia Soil and Water Conservation –Level 1A personnel and a licensed Georgia Pesticide Applicator (GA Dept. of Agriculture).

Scott Uthlaut received his associate degree in Environmental Horticulture from Gwinnett Technical College, also earning a certificate in Landscape Design, after a career as a manager with BellSouth. In addition, he holds a degree in Business Administration from Auburn University. While at Gwinnett Technical College, he was awarded the Outstanding Horticulture Student and was also a finalist for the prestigious Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership. Other awards include: National Vocational Technical Honor Society, All-USA Academic Team nominee and All-Georgia Academic Team Member. Scott is a licensed Georgia Pesticide Applicator (GA Dept. of Agriculture) and an Associate Member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
